MB QUART Electronics USA, Inc., in response to the quickly changing and expanding Internet retail landscape, announced specific requirements pertaining to the retail sales of MB QUART through authorized retailers with the added restriction of prohibiting the online sales of MB QUART automotive loudspeaker products in 2000. The company also announced its intention to aggressively combat the transshipping of goods to unauthorized agents which sometimes end up for sale on the Internet. In clarifying their policy on e-commerce, MB QUART USA President Keith Lehmann explained the need for maintaining the company?s successful retail business model. "Specialty retailers have invested years of equity into the MB QUART brand, and the online sale of goods diminishes this equity through inevitable price erosion and reduction of service to the end-user. Automotive loudspeakers, being an installation-dependent product, are worthless until installed and online sales betray the concept of value-added installation and setup services provided by the dealer. We don?t see any reason to change our primary direction in response to the current frenzy surrounding the sale of goods on the Internet." MB QUART Electronics USA, Inc., as part of an effort to promote better sound in car audio systems, is teaming up with electronics manufacturer AudioControl at the 1999 IASCA World Finals in Greenville, SC on October 8-10, 1999.
